A little about
ACUPUNCTURE:
Acupuncture is one of the oldest and most widely used natural or “alternative” health care. It’s no wonder because acupuncture has worked wonders for many people as is proven by its ability to survive for 2000 years as one of our leading treatments for pain relief, post surgical recovery, immune function, menopausal symptoms, depression, anxiety and so much more. There is lots of strong scientific research that encourages acupuncture for its benefits in headaches, migraines, back pain, inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, allergies, and nausea. It just makes sense to have this incredible treatment in my office!
Your first acupuncture visit will be a consultation and will take about an hour. In this session, I will be taking a very detailed history on your past and current health, lifestyle, emotional state, and physical wellbeing to determine the best treatment for you. We will discuss any problems you want me to address in your treatment as well as the goals you have for your well-being inside and outside of the office.
During your treatment sessions you will rest in one of our acupuncture rooms with relaxing music. Insertion of the needles may feel like a quick sting or poke, but generally isn’t painful and is very relaxing. Wearing loose fitting clothing is best so I can access the points I have chosen for your treatment. After all the needles have been set you will relax for about 25 minutes. This is when I recommend focusing on deep breathing, meditating, or even taking a nap.
What does a FIRST VISIT looks like?
Full Body Acupuncture
I do a couple different treatments with my acupuncture needles. The full body acupuncture session is the classic treatment using traditional Chinese acupuncture points all over the body. These points could be anywhere on the body and help to regulate the flow of “qi” (or the body’s life force) to promote healing. This treatment is incredibly powerful and helps with all sorts of ailments and conditions.
A few of my favorite to treat are:
• anxiety & excess stress
• depression
• menstrual pain
• hot flashes/menopausal symptoms
• vertigo
• headaches
• sleep problems
Cosmetic Acupuncture
Cosmetic acupuncture involves the insertion of tiny needles all over the face. These needles are super fine and smooth and are virtually painless upon placement. This self care is not only relaxing, it also can improve blood flow, increase elastin production, boost collagen in the face, reduce wrinkles, and help to relax tight musculature.
The points used in cosmetic acupuncture are carefully selected. Many help increase the flow of blood and nutrients to the face resulting in a glowing, fresh complexion with decreased inflammation.
Other points are used because they target areas that help relax tight and stressed muscles. Decreasing the overactive tone of these muscles helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles as well as leaves you feeling softer and more relaxed.
Some of my favorite benefits of cosmetic acupuncture:
• reduced fine lines & wrinkles
• create plumper, youthful skin
• diminish scarring
• relax musculature (botox-like affects)
• help with breakouts and acne

Barely! And you can trust me because I’m kind of a wimp. It depends on the area - sometimes they feel like a tiny pinch going in and other times you won’t even know I put one in.
-
Absolutely. The needles I use are about the width of a hair and are very different from the needles you’re used to in western medicine. I’ve worked with many people who hate needles but end up loving treatment.
-
It takes me about 2 minutes to sanitize the areas and put needles in. After that you relax for about 25 minutes for maximum benefits!

This is another one of those “depends” answers. Some people have drastic results very quickly - within 1 to 2 visits. For others it can take a bit more time and dedication to consistency.
